Chritmas Craft.........

A bit of a detour from the kitchen renovations... final photo's coming (Once my overhead cupboard doors arrive... still waiting!!!) I thought i would show you a really easy Christmas wreath to make for your Christmas Table! It literally took me no longer than an hour to whip up.

Step1. First you need to pick up the required materials from your local craft store (I went to spotlight).
1 x Blank Wreath
Bows, Baubles,Berries etc in your "theme" colours
Large Faux Poinsettia Flower
1 Church Candle.

Other items you may need would be:

Glue gun
Wire Snips
Medium Glass (Pasta Sauce) Bottle
Wire

Step 2. Fix/Glue the Faux Poinsettia Flower to one side of the wreath.

Step 3. Set out your "themed" items such as your berries & babules on the wreath until your happy with the position of each and glue.

I chose red, silver and white theme for this table wreath..... I picked up some cute berries, mini mushrooms, baubles, apples and bows to fit in with my theme!

Step 4. Once you have glued all your pretty's onto the wreath it's time to make the candle holder. Simply wrap a length of wire around the top of the jar and temporarily tie. Cut another length of wire, long enough to create a handle. Wrap the ends of this length of wire to the wire that is tied around the jar to create the handle. Tighten the wire around the jar to hold into place.

Step 5. Place glue on the base of the candle and place inside the jar and press firmly down to secure.

And VOILA.... you have created a gorgeous christmas wreath for your christmas table!

Kitchen Renovations... At Long Last (Part 1)

Yes Yes I know it's been over a week since I last posted anything.... well I have been busy... Haven't you? :-) Christmas is coming like a freight train with no brakes and my house is a sham at the moment, i am up to my arm pits in plaster, tile off cuts, stored food and utensils and don't talk to me about the washing! But for good reason though.... I have a new kitchen! YAY!

So let's start with the before shots... i always love seeing before and after shots on things seeing the change that happens.... because i will say the new kitchen has really transformed this space!

The kitchen in it's "Natural" state

I had the pleasure of having to remove all the items from the kitchen cabinets and try and find somewhere to store them all while the renovations were under way..... what better place then our living room!

Bevan's brother helped him pull the old kitchen out last weekend. It took them most of the day to do with a few gross discoveries.... such as an old mice nest under the kitchen, old dried maggots stuck under the old lino and lots of GUNK!

Starting the job of dismantling the kitchen.

Most of the cabinets removed...

Bevan's brother helping out... thanks :-)

An nearly empty kitchen!

After the cabinets had been removed it seem to stir up the "smell" that this area seemed to have... a mixture of old fat and mustiness. So we decided it would be best to put a lick of paint over the walls and floors where there was stains to try and seal in the smell because i did not want that after the new kitchen was installed.

After painting the floor and some wall areas to seal in the smell!

We have put the old kitchen on E-bay to sell and it is currently squeezed into our garage awaiting removal from the lucky buyer!

Our little doggy 'Abby' is a bit bewildered with all that is happening at the moment. She has a bit of a sniff and look around at what is going on and goes back to her favourite spot on top of the shoe basket and watches everything from there.

And the big reveal of the new kitchen....... will actually happen next week... just to make you a wait a bit longer! :-)

I will give you a sneak peak of what it looks like... Enjoy!

All I Want For Christmas Is.... A Chandelier

You think... She wants a chandelier for Christmas? Well i do... kinda..?? You see we need to pick some light fitting for the kitchen and the dining area for once our kitchen gets done and I LOVE chandeliers... the classiness and glamour that they ooze and the "pizzang" (if that's a word?) they bring to a room once installed. I have been drooling over these photo's of chandeliers in Kitchens and Dining Rooms and i would be thrilled to add one to our house (now that our kitchen is getting done next week) .... one teeny tiny problem..... i cannot convince my husband to "LOVE" them also!

I have cajoled, begged and pleaded... well actually that's a fib... i simply just asked and said.. "Would you like a chandelier in our kitchen or dining room?".... His answer "Would you?"... "YES I would LOVE one", i replied. (He shouldn't of bothered asking that question... it's quite obvious that i do) He just didn't seem to warm to my idea. Hmmm what to do?? Well after some discussion and a bit of research on my behalf i believe we may come to a compromise in the lighting department for the hanging over the kitchen table in the dining room. Instead of a big sparkling, bedangling chandelier (what i would love) we think we may go with something a bit simpler and more sympathetic to the age of the house.  A light similar in design to the one in the picture below but possibly with a bit more of a modern edge to it.

Yes it's not a big glamourous chandelier which i drooled and dreamed over but i think it will still be a nice compromise!

I wonder what he thinks about a chandelier in the bathroom??? :-)
