Hi.

Welcome to The Whimsical Wife. Thanks for popping in to share my adventures in the kitchen, in my home and my workshop as I Cook, Create & Decorate.

Tasty Tuesday - Walnut Recipe Roundup

As I write this post I am currently 39 weeks pregnant and 5 days.... and counting down! Hopefully by the time this post pops up on your computers I will have a baby in my arms. I truly hope so. I don't think my OB will have let me gone this far anyway. Fingers crossed.....

This week's star ingredient is walnuts. I just love them - raw, sprinkled in muesli or in a good banana bread. Althought that last option really isn't the healthiest but I can't pass up a good piece of banana bread straight out of the oven. Mmmmmm

Did you know that  a handful of walnuts contains almost twice as much antioxidants as an equivalent amount of any other commonly consumed nut. But unfortunately, people don't eat a lot of them. They contain plenty of high-quality protein that can substitute for meat; vitamins and minerals; dietary fiber; and they are dairy- and gluten-free. It takes only about seven walnuts a day to get the potential health benefits. (Read more about walnut health benefits here)

I have tried to round up some healthy walnut recipes that aren't laden with a lot of sugar or fats.... it was a feat in itself but I did find some out there in web and blog land. So here goes......

I tried to find a few "different recipes" to add in there in the recipe roundup this week. I'm sure a few of you may of lifted your eyebrows up at the vegan lentil walnut meatloaf!

Anyway I hope to get back on board to baking again soon. It just takes a little bit more time and energy to try and bake and photograph what I have baked as well but we will get there!
