Hi.

Welcome to The Whimsical Wife. Thanks for popping in to share my adventures in the kitchen, in my home and my workshop as I Cook, Create & Decorate.

Feature Friday - Araminta Musk & Giveaway.

Phew what a week it's been. Do you feel like there are weeks where by the middle of the week you feel so behind with life and by friday it's too late too try and catch up. Well that's how I have felt this week. It's been a big week and all I can say I am glad it's friday.

I am excited today though that I can bring another talented designer to show off to you. Her name is Debbie and she is the owner of her madeit store - Araminta Musk.

Isn't she the cutest. Araminta Musk is the cutest madeit store you will ever see. It has the cutest range of handmade cards, pot holders, peg bags & laundry bags all featuring the a whimsical bird design. Super cute. I am a motif lover at heart and that is one of the reasons why I was drawn to Debbie's store. Without further ado I will let Debbie tell you a little about herself!

Hi everyone, my name is Debbie and I own Araminta Musk. I’ve been sewing since college.  I did a Fashion certificate at TAFE in Hobart and then went on to work in bridal wear.  After some years of doing this, I decided to move on to something a little less stressful!  I no longer sew for a living, but wanted to keep using my skills in ways I enjoy.

I love home decorating, so thought of making things for the house.  I guess my style is feminine, but at the same time classic and a little bit country.  I only make things that I love.  My products were popular at ‘The Barn Market’ here in Hobart so I decided to try selling online as well.  Also, I make many more things than I can use and I thought a shop on madeit would be a good way to let more people around Australia know of my products.

My other craft love is paper – mostly card making.  I’m still developing my style with this.  I love taking a few bits of card, some ink and stamps and maybe ribbon and making something beautiful.  All my friends know now to expect handmade cards and/or gifts from me on their birthdays!
Colour combinations inspire me!  I just love colour, and using colours together in ways that bring out their beauty.

Things I like: magnolia trees in full bloom; finding beautiful things in unexpected places; sharing what I love with other people; being with other people who share my love of craft; being cosy in front of a heater with a good book on a grey, drizzly day.
Things I dislike: when people discover I sew, telling me I should be a fashion designer – it’s the sewing I enjoy, more than the fashion; waiting – I’m not good at being patient; the gym – I enjoy a good walk, but why would I want to be in a stuffy room with a lot of sweaty people?!

I would have to agree with you Debbie, I love going to the gym but the stuffy room with a lot of sweaty people can get a bit much sometimes! :-)

Debbie has kindly donated a gorgeous Peg Basket & Pot holders for a giveaway this week. Aren't they the most whimsical pieces of cuteness you have ever seen.
