Hi.

Welcome to The Whimsical Wife. Thanks for popping in to share my adventures in the kitchen, in my home and my workshop as I Cook, Create & Decorate.

My First Food Photography Job

I have some exciting news to share (well it's exciting for me anyway)... I landed my first paid food photography job!!!. I finalised the deal while I was away on holidays in Hervey Bay and basically hit the ground running since I returned home on Tuesday.  This is the room I will be holed up in over the next 3 1/2 weeks photographing 55 recipes.

It is going to be a challenge - but I am up for the challenge of cooking, styling and photographing these 55 recipes over 29 days. If you sit down and work out the math its a minimum of 2 recipes a day add in a very active 8 1/2 month old and your have the perfect recipe for a tired mummy!

I am aiming at trying to do a couple of extra recipes per day to make up for a few days here and there of taking a break such as the weekends and days out. Nap time will be the time I will get any opportunity to get cooking and photographing and even that is limited - about  1 1/2 hours in the morning and about 2 hours in the afternoon so mumma gets her skates on when J.D's head hits the mattress!
So who am I photographing all these recipes for you may ask? Well its not secret client or anything its for a well known australian weight loss website called losebabyweight.com.au. I am photographing their 28 day weight loss meal plan. I have to say I am actually looking forward to eating the leftovers. Lots of great healthy and nutritious meals coming my way (and hubby's).

I had the pleasure of going prop shopping while I was away on holidays. I had SO much fun. I was like a little girl in a candy store seeing all the pretty crockery to choose from. I managed to pick up a heap on sale at Target as they had 25% off loose crockery which worked out a treat. I am a bargain hunter in all things even buying props.

I will be quiet on the blog front over the next few weeks because I just don't have time to juggle this as well as cooking, styling, photographing, being mummy and house wife. I will try and drop in a couple of times if I can but would appreciate your patience with lack of content over the coming weeks.

I can tell you how stoked I am to be given the opportunity to do this. I hope that I can deliver the goods. I am feeling apprehensive but I am enjoying the creative challenge. Will keep you posted on the progress.
