Salted Caramel No Bake Malteser Slice

See this content in the original post

It’s coming up to that time of year again where we start straining our brains for the perfect gift for the special dads in our life. Yes Father’s Day is fast approaching. I am a hopeless gift giver and trying to come up with the perfectly themed gift for Father's Day almost sends me insane. Not this year I have the perfect edible gift that will knock my dad's and your dad's socks off. Doesn’t the old saying go “The way to a man’s heart is through his stomach?”. If that is the case you will be firmly on the forefront as favourite with this slice. Father's Day is a great time to spoil your dad, husband or special man in your life. While gag gifts, socks and ties all have their place it is also nice to make something special. Inject some serious love into your creation as you melt, chop, stir and sift and carefully package it up.

I was asked by The Reject Shop to create something special for Father's Day and what better way to celebrate the day than with this totally decadent Salted Caramel No Bake Malteser Slice. It is pure heaven in every mouthful. I hear you ask what is in it? Why I’m glad you asked, let me give you the low down on what is hiding in this delectable number. Let’s start with the bottom layer which is crushed malt biscuits blitzed with coconut and drizzled in butter and set into the perfect base to begin adding the main stars. The next layer is rich dark chocolate truffle fudge filled with crunchy pieces of Maltesers throughout. That to die for dark truffle fudge is then smothered in a layer of gooey salted caramel and if that wasn’t enough all finished with a fine layer of milk chocolate and dotted with Maltesers. Have I got your attention yet?  I sure hope so!

I visited my local  The Reject Shop one sunny Saturday afternoon to stock up on supplies to create this perfect edible Father's Day gift. I have always loved The Reject Shop and I am always pleasantly surprised at discovering something new and different every time I visit. They have a huge range of quality products bursting from the shelves at bargain prices. Being a serious bargain hunter at heart this definitely tickles my fancy and makes my bank account happy. There were heaps of great things lining the shelves that took some restraint not to add to the shopping basket. I will be visiting again in the not too distant future that’s for sure. I was able to pick up the malt biscuits, Maltesers, bakers twine and the apothecary jar to create my Father's Day gift.  By filling the apothecary jar with a thoughtful home made gift, adding a flourish of bakers twine and a simple tag, it turns an everyday item into something pretty special. So the next time you walk past your local The Reject Shop pop in for a browse as you will be pleasantly surprised.

What dad wouldn’t want a jar full of goodies sitting in the fridge at the ready to devour? This slice does take a little time to prepare but the results are well worth it. You could make this over two days otherwise a couple of hours will do the trick. I got two thumbs up from hubby and a few of his taste testing friends who tried this Salted Caramel No Bake Malteser Slice after I had made it. I would recommend cutting the slice into smaller bite size pieces rather than normal slice sizes. It is a very rich and decadent treat so serve it to your favourite guy with a steaming cup of coffee, turn the footy on, push him into his favourite arm chair and let him bask in some me time while he devours his treat. He might even sneak back into the kitchen to sneak another piece.
