Hi.

Welcome to The Whimsical Wife. Thanks for popping in to share my adventures in the kitchen, in my home and my workshop as I Cook, Create & Decorate.

Nursery Inspiration & Winner

I have been slowly going through pinterest looking for Nursery inspiration  and ideas. There are just so many beautiful idea's out there and I am finding it difficult to narrow it down to a selection of a few ideas. Follow me here on Pinterest. Some of the pictures that I found are pretty unrealistic though - who keeps an immaculately tidy nursery with a newborn? I doubt many people do - but I can dream!

I will show you the selection of pictures that I am leaning towards for colour schemes and ideas for the babies room. I really thought I would want to go a neutral colour scheme through the whole nursery (like the picture above) but after finding these images I was swayed to add a bit more colour.... once the baby is born of course and we know what colours to use! So in the mean time I will simply do as much as I can to the nursery without adding the final touches, which we be SO hard cos I will want it finished.... I will have to have patience I guess!

So the picture above is my inspiration for a boys room. I really love the combination of colours and don't get me started on the light.... I love it! Below is the colour palette I probably will use in the room if it is a boy.

I think it's very bright and cheery and also relaxing. I am in love with the printed fabric chair! I have already brought a rocking chair for the room so no printed fabric chair for me sadly. I did however find the light that is featured in this bedroom and also the girl's nursery room that I like...

It's a Maskros Pendant Light from Ikea... and the smallest version is $150. Sigh a little out of the budget I do believe. However I am doing some detective work to see if I can pick it up cheaper on ebay or somewhere. The current cheapest price I have found is $90 from Ebay - from a supplier in Germany! So we will see if I will go in that direction or not.

This is the girls room inspiration and colour palette below. It is very similar colours to the boys room excluding the green and adding a nice coral pink. I will be using the robin's egg blue and yellow  as accents throughout the nursery alongside the coral pink. I really love the idea of the photo frame collage above the dresser. That is why I started creating my Nursery Prints to create my own photo frame collage. I am on the hunt for cheap white photo frames at the moment and really need to go to some garage sales to see if I can russel up any cheap ones that I can paint. I love the mismatched frame look.

So there you go - that's what I have managed to visualise so far for the nursery.... not a lot of action though is actually happening in the room itself. I am trying to get hubby to install some shelving in the built in wardrobes we have in this room. We pulled the old ones out when we renovated the house 2 years ago and never got around to re-installing some new ones - until now! I will keep you updated on our progress and hopefully get some before photo's up of the room so that you can see the transformation happening.

On an exciting note I have been feeling the baby moving more prevalently now and some days it does somersaults for minutes at a time. It is a very special time feeling these little flutters and I really cannot wait to meet this little one! Oh well 4 1/2 months more to go!
