How hard is it to get back into the swing of things when you've just returned from the most relaxing week away.

We returned home on Saturday after 7 wonderul nights away in Byron Bay for our last and final holiday as a couple. With Baby Darr only 12 1/2 weeks away from appearing we thought we better take the opportunity to spend some quality time together before we are thrown into chaos of looking after a newborn.

We were blessed with magnificent weather for our time away. Cloudless, bright blue skies, crisp mornings and sunny and warm afternoons. We spent a lot of time relaxing on the beach, soaking up the sunshine and reading.

We ate out most nights and enjoyed a variety of cuisines - Mediterranean pita pockets @ the Orgasmic Cafe, Pizza @ The Slice Pizzeria, Fish & Chips @ Fish Mongers & Tapas @ St Elmo. Most nights I stopped off at my favourite Gelati bar - Bella Rosa Gelateria & Espresso Bar which served dairy free chocolate sorbet, which I consumed with great delight. It's not often I can find a sorbet other than a fruit variety that I can eat and being pregnant and having chocolate cravings, this satisfied them quite nicely.

When we weren't napping on the beach we took a few day trips to some surrounding towns and villages. We visited the local markets at The Channon on sunday which was filled with lots of crafts, clothes and food stalls. I love markets and this one was good - very hippiyish - but that's what this area is know for!

We even dropped int othe little town of Nimbin on our way back from the markets. Let's just say they're a different breed here and I don't think I would return for a second visit! We did vist the cutest little town called Newrybar. The reason for our vist there was to go to the Harvest Cafe, which I had read some great reviews about.

The setting of this cafe is just beautiful - an old queenslander done up in a rustic french style. I loved it. Out the back of the cafe was a 99 year old bakey they had recently done up which they use to make breads and baked goods for the cafe and attached to it is a function room. The cafe also has there own veggie patch and deli (which is pictured above) which created such a nice feel to the place.

We sat and enjoyed the surroundings of the cafe while we enjoyed some morning tea. Bevan loved the french pastry that he chose and I enjoyed a nice cup of chamomile tea and sampled some of the freshly baked fig and walnut fruit loaf they had on offer. Delicious.

We also spent a lot of time going on walks on the beach at sunset or in the early morning and just enjoying the crashing waves and each others company. We visited the Byron Bay light house to watch the sunset one evening which was really special. I will fondly remember this week away together and I am now looking forward to having some family holidays with Baby Darr when she/he comes along.
