Pregnancy Update: 36 Weeks

Pregnancy Update: 36 Weeks

Hi, guys long time no talk. I can't believe it's been a month since I last posted a pregnancy update. I can believe that actually because the last two weeks has been downright crazy and the thought of trying to put together a pregnancy post was totally not on the agenda. Sorry blog readers I have slowed down a bit posting things of late. Let's jump into where things are at with Bubba and my bump.

The Bump:

Is big!! There is no way around it now. Just get a load of it. I am bigger this time round than with the last two pregnancies, and I am starting to struggle with daily tasks and looking after the kids. Don't get me started on trying to get out of bed in the middle of the night to go to the toilet for the millionth time. I kinda have to roll out on a weird angle and push myself out of bed. It's funny to watch, but it's getting old fast. I am not sure what the bump is measuring regarding size. My ObGyn never seems to measure my stomach but has only checked the size of the baby via ultrasound.

Feeling:

Pretty good considering we are getting to the business end of this pregnancy. I remember feeling so drained by now with my other pregnancies but I was lucky enough to get an iron infusion about six weeks ago when I was feeling like absolute rubbish, and that has tripled my levels to somewhere in the normal range. So I am feeling pretty good all things considered in the energy department. Just don't get me trying to chance after a four and two year old. That wears thin fast.

My nasty reflux and heartburn symptoms have died down, and I only need to chew on Quick Eze now and again. I came down with a horrible flu about two weeks ago, and that's why I never got round to posting my 34 weeks update. It was awful and then it turned into a sinus infection so that was, even more, fun. It seems to be a thing in my pregnancies to get an awful cold about a month out from my due date. I thought I dodged the bullet this time round and started getting a little smug, but it came back to bite me in the bum. Ha. Thankfully I am now on the mend and am hoping to stay healthy from now on.

Doing:

Nesting like a boss. This week I just completed some freelance work for a kids lunchbox cookbook which has kept me busy for a couple of weeks. Now that is out of the way I have a list as long as my arm to get down before this baby comes. Like packing my bags (yep been pretty slack with that), install the car seat and actually prepare myself to have this baby.

This week I have cleaned out my entire photography room to make way for Little Miss's new bedroom. That was a massive job in itself as it was full of food props and bits and pieces and it took me a million trips to move all of it into the newly built in cupboards that hubby knocked up in the garage. Now that job is complete I hemmed and sewed some eyelet block out curtains that had been sitting in the corner of the room for about six months. Then went straight to putting together Little Miss's bed. I am a woman on a mission. I am crossing things off my list like there is no tomorrow. I mentioned in my

32-week pregnancy update

that we were going camping to Hastings Point with the kids. I was nervous that the weekend was going to be a disaster as the weather was forecasted to be great and trying to deal with two kids while heavily pregnant kind of set me on edge. Well, the first night was a bit of a disaster as the weather was

windy and first nights away are never good with kids as they settle into a new environment to sleep. I think we got about three hours in total of sleep that night from getting up to the kids and listening to the wind howl around us. It wasn't a great start but after a massive coffee, a stroll to the beach and some time to sit in the sun I found my perspective again. After that things got better, the kids settled into sleeping well at night and even napped well during the day, and we had a blast for the rest of our stay. Note always book an ensuite site with kids or if you are pregnant. It was so good to have a shower and toilet a few steps away that was just ours to use and this pregnant mummy's bladder didn't have to nearly burst all the time.

Wearing:

Argh don't get me started on my wardrobe. I thought I might have been able to start slipping into some comfy maxi dresses by now, but the weather here has got all cold and winter like again to the point I'm pulling out my maternity jeans, boots and jumpers again which is so frustrating. Not a lot is fitting me at the moment and all my winter clothes that fit okay for the last few months are stretched to the limit. I am begging the weather to warm up a little to give me a break in the wardrobe department. I have been throwing caution to the wind and wearing a couple of maxi dresses with jackets and flats because I really can't stand the thought of wearing jeans again. That being said it is a little nippy, but my personal internal radiator is doing a pretty good job of keeping me warm. Just ask my husband he is getting sick of me dumping the doona on him in the middle of the night because I get so hot.

Eating:

All the bad things. My sweet tooth cravings have ramped up, and I am struggling to say no to all the bad things all the time. Like I want to eat pancakes for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Chocolate cake ALL.THE.TIME and I want an endless supply of chocolate chip cookies in the freezer. It's not helping the pregnancy weight gain, but I am trying not to focus too much on that if I can but keep things in as much moderation and bulk out the rest of the day with smoothies and healthy snacks if I indulge in something delicious!!! Let's see if I don't fall off the waggon tomorrow! Ha.

I have started drinking my raspberry leaf tea to help prepare the body for birth. I would love not to go overdue this time round, but I have resigned myself to the fact that it is probably going to be the case considering  I went seven days overdue with J.D and nine days overdue with Little Miss. Only time will tell now eh?

Enjoying:

My sister bought me a block of 70% Lindt dark chocolate - OH.MY.GOODNESS - I am in love. I don't think the block lasted me the week with the current sweet tooth I have at the moment.

I love to read, but I go through stages where the thought of picking up a book just doesn't interest me, however lately I have got the reading bug again and have been devouring pages of novels in my nightly soak in the tub. It's my favourite time of day to relax and have a bit of me time.

 Things To Do:

  • Finish packing bags for labour
  • Install car seat
  • Finish setting up Little Miss's new bedroom
  • Clean the nursery and set it up
  • Eat more chocolate - haha.

Bump Appointments:

So I have started weekly appoints to the ObGyn this week, and I can't say I am a fan of having to go so often. I have to drag Litte Miss with me to these appointments while J.D is at daycare. She does alright but if the doc is running late things get a little crazy. Everything with bub is looking good. She is not engaged yet, but the head is down and ready to go. I don't think she'll engage until I go into labour as I did with Little Miss - which I had to get my waters broken to get things started with her.

I got my whooping cough vaccine done today - yeah I am a bit late on the train for this. My doc wasn't too happy I hadn't got it yet so I had to make an appointment quick smart to make him happy.
