Where Have I Been? & What Is In The Works!
Guy’s it has been far too long since I last posted on this here blog. Where have I been you might ask? Working, looking after the family, working some more. I had an increase in jobs for my Food Photography biz at the start of this year which left me time poor and the first thing that went down the drain was the time I could spend on the blog. Sorry :-( However, as this years seems to be bringing it’s challenges I had a long term client which I have been working with for nearly 6 years let me know that due to budget cuts my services were no longer needed at this time. While disappointing as it was I can see the silver lining in having some more spare time up my sleeve and hopefully I can start posting a bit more often on the blog. This follows me losing another long term job at the end of last year. I was working with Australian Handyman Magazine and they shut up shop due to the magazine no longer being sold at Bunnings, which now has their very own magazine in stores. I have felt a little down about not having permanent work on my calendar but I love my husband because he always encourages me and says I have only ever been given the right amount of work that I can sustain while looking after the family and myself. That has always been the case. So we shall see what other doors will open in regards to freelance work over the coming months.
So what do I plan to do with my now spare time? Sleep? Ha that’s a joke with three kids. Well….If you don’t follow me on Instagram or Facebook you might not know that I am in the midst of developing a allergy friendly cake Ebook that would celebrate those with dairy, gluten, nut & egg allergies and serve them with a nice piece of delicious cake. (That won’t make them sick). If you were following the #30cakesin30days where I was going to try and develop, cook and photograph 30 allergy friendly cakes (silly idea, really!) in 30 days which ended with me pulling my hair out. I posted the 10 recipes that I came up with on the blog but I felt like I didn’t finish the challenge that I set myself. To make 30 allergy-friendly cakes that are gluten, dairy, egg & nut free.
So I have changed the idea to creating a proper Ebook which will have each cake recipe thoroughly tested, beautifully photographed and presented to you in Ebook form so that you have all the recipes in one place and you simply have to flick (or scroll) through the recipes to choose which one you want to make. It won’t be happening in 30 days but I am slowly working my way through my list of cakes I want to have in the book. Think Black forest Chocolate Torte, Vegan Carrot Cake with Lemon Coconut Icing, Vegan Victoria Sponge (yes one made without eggs!), Fudgy Chocolate Brownie Cake and Cinnamon Tea Cake with Salted Caramel Apples (see the pics of cakes in this post) just to name a few that will be featuring in this book. If you are keen on hearing when this book is finally published and ready to purchase then make sure you sign up to my email list to keep up to date with it.
This week I am looking at developing a recipe for a Chocolate Sponge Roll with Cream (dairy free of course) and maybe one other cake but I haven’t nailed down which one I want to try yet. If you have suggestions on what cake you would love to see in the book then leave me a comment below because I still have a few spots in my list of 30 that I need to fill and I love to hear from my readers about what they want to see in the book. I also have a list as long as my arm of projects that I need to write a blog post for to share with you guys. This includes video tutorials too. So I am not lacking in content to share for now. Thanks for sticking round during the longish hiatus - keep an eye on your inboxes for new posts, projects and fun things! xo
