DIY Boho Christmas Tree Wall Hanging

I have two Christmas tree inspired projects left to share with you and the first of those I am sharing with you today. It's my DIY Boho Christmas Tree Wall Hanging. It's something a little different to the ordinary Christmas tree but I love it how it's so unique and special. Plus it is SO simple to make and really you could do the whole project for nothing if you have all of the materials at home. All it requires is you to raid your herb garden. If your herb garden is non-existent go and ask your neighbour, family or friends for some rosemary which makes up the Christmas tree shape in this hanging. 

The rest of the materials required for this project is a branch with a little character, some jute twine and some cute white ornaments to hand at the ends of each strand of the hanging. That is it. So simple and easy yet so fetch! Gah did I just say that. I sound like one of the girls from Mean Girls. So not me. Anyway let me get started on teaching you how to create your very own DIY Boho Christmas Tree Wall Hanging.

Materials:

• 1 x 1 inch thick branch (approx. 75cm in length)
• Jute twine
• 45 sprigs Rosemary, approx. 15cm in length
• 9 x white Christmas ornaments

Step 1: Cut 6 x pieces of jute twine about 1.5m in length. Tie these pieces together and tie around one end of the stick. Plait the twine together using two pieces in each strand for the plait. Plait until long enough to tie to the other end of the branch with room to hang from a hook. Snip any excess string off each end. 

Step 2: Bunch three sprigs of rosemary together, stripping off 3cm of the leaves at the end and tie together using the jute twine. Repeat this process until you have 15 bunches of rosemary tied together. 

Step 3: Cut 9 pieces of jute twine about 1- 1.5 meter in length for each. Tie these 9 pieces of twine evenly along the branch so that you create 9 “tails” hanging from the branch.

Step 4: Hang the branch up in the spot that you intend to leave it allowing the tails to hang down. Tie the first bunch of rosemary onto the centre piece of string about 2 inches from the top. 

Step 5: Tie two more bunches of rosemary on the string either side of the first bunch aligning about half way up the first bunch. 

Step 6: Time two more bunches of rosemary on the outside string of the two bunches of rosemary that were just added. Add the third bunch on the middle string. Add you can see this is now creating a staggered triangular shape. Repeat this process with 4 bunches and 5 bunches of rosemary. 

Step 7: Once all of the rosemary has been tied on it is time to add the Christmas decorations to the bottom of each strings. This helps to weigh down the string allowing for a straight and streamlined look for the hanging. Start with the middle piece of string leaving a couple of inches below the last line of rosemary and tie the first Christmas decoration to the bottom. Repeat the process with all the other pieces of string and cut of any excess string from each piece.

 
Step 8: There is no need to spritz the herbs with water. They are quite hearty and while they hang they will dry and will be perfect to use in cooking after you no longer need them. 

There you have it. My DIY Boho Christmas Tree Wall Hanging. So simple to put together and the effect that it creates is lovely. I still have this hanging in the kid's playroom, and while the rosemary has dried off, it looks charming and rustic looking. Plus if I ever need a bit of dried rosemary for cooking I know where to go. I hope you have a go at creating one of these wall hangings for your home.
